THIS SLOW NEGATIVE

Castles and churches, bridges and fountains
The river with two mouths very good news, if true;
Not nearly so light; not nearly so shining:

Not nearly so going round and round.
It seems a lapse due to an interruption and,
Returning to the wilderness shadowed by malice, delights.

I could form no clear conception of the whole matter.
Zhou-gong (Ji-dan), he thought of the horror and the silences
In the city-palace; or in homes of fever or death

Outside the walls of the city within the city,
But chosen by a different heaven. This slow negative,
This moral magick. Sign of good luck in the old country

This dark diagram of a slice of the golden city;
Against the luminous navy sky split with white light.
